Welcome to the Alternative Checkley Web Site.
"Staffordshire can be said to be most fortunate in having so many ancient parishes, which have so much to offer in the way of scenic beauty and historical interest, but few can compete with the parish of Checkley, lying in that broad stretch of country-side between Tean and Uttoxeter, with its swelling hills and its varied landscape of river, wood, pasture, and quaint homesteads."
This was how an article in The Sentinel newspaper introduced Checkley about twenty five years ago. And it is still true today. The new A50 road, which opened in April 1985, took much of the traffic away from the village and so the community has continued unspoilt into the 21st century.
These pages give a little of an introduction to the village and its history whilst the 'Official' Checkley web site will help you to establish the activities taking place in the community today.
